Hi! I'm Katie and I was first introduced to the idea of a cutting garden by my friend, Amy, in 2021. She was growing the most beautiful and unique flowers to share with her family and friends. That fall I ordered my first ranunculus corms, and seeds for cosmos, asters and zinnias. The summer of 2022 brought plenty of beautiful flowers to our yard and I began leaving mason jar arrangements for neighbors and friends. I just loved seeing the happiness flowers could bring people. That summer I began seeking out growing answers on YouTube. That is when I came across women who farmed flowers for a living. I was hooked. I wanted to become a flower farmer.
The more I researched, my list of flowers to grow got longer and longer. I bought all kinds of seeds in the fall of 2022...and into winter 2023. I started about 1200 seedlings in our basement in the winter of 2023. It was so satisfying to sow the seeds, water and talk to them daily, and see them grow. I feel content when I am working with plants.
In May of 2023 we held our first specialty seedling sale offering many varieties of dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, celosia, snapdragons, strawflowers, asters, gomphrena, rudubekia, stock, sweet peas, bells of Ireland, petunias and more. We had an enthusiastic response from the local community.
In the spring of 2023 we reinvented our front lawn as a flower farm and are now growing and harvesting daily.
We began selling direct to florists in the summer of 2023. We are selling arrangements and bouquets to order this season.
In 2024 we met so many neighbors and friends at the Whitefish Bay Farmers Market. By the end of the market season we had transitioned from offering pre-arranged boquets to offering the hands on experience of building your own arrangements. Our customers loved choosing their own blooms to place in vintage milk glass vases.
This season we are offering bouquet subscriptions with gorgeous premium local and sustainable flowers grown with love. And you will be able to find us at Matilda Bakehouse in Fox Point.
Growing and arranging flowers has been an unexpected blessing in my life and my family. Flowers light me up from the inside and I love to share that light with everyone around me.
Our mission is to make the world a little more beautiful each day with fresh local flowers.
Most days you can find me and my husband with the kids working and laughing together in the garden.
